What editor do you recommend?

Hi everybody,
I was looking for a PowerShell editor. Not only syntax-highlighting but also
code-completion would be desired. So far I found PowerGUI (more a graphical
editor - not 100% what I´m looking for) and PowerShellPlus (and someone
mentioned SAPIEN PRIMALSCRIPT).

Is there e.g. a plan for VisualStudio to support PowerShell?
What editor would you recommend?

Regards,
Rudi

I prefer Powershell Analyzer.

It is great as an IDE while maintain the Powershell Runspace for diagnostics.

Hi,

I use PowerGUI most of the time and I'm a big fan.

Can't seem to get to grips with Powershell plus at all, maybe I need
to spend a bit more time with it. I do find all the "Commercial use
requires
a license" text a bit annoying.

A friend at work has a copy of PrimalScript Pro and I've had a couple
of
sessions with it and was very impressed. Too expensive for me though.

Wouldn't it be great if Sapien were to produce a dedicated Powershell
editor
based on the PrimalScript interface/engine - but at a really
competitive price?

I've still got my fingers crossed for someone to develop a graphical
forms
editor too.

I opt for PowerShell Plus most of the time. Probably the closest thing to a
Visual Studio experience when it comes to creating GUI forms would be Admin
Script Editor. If you are a more barebones kind of person, there's syntax
highlighters for most of the popular editors now. Notepad++ and VIM comes to mind.

Any idea when Powershell+ will go RTM? The website says it's in beta.

I tend to use the PowerGUI editor, PowerShell+ and NotePad to varying degrees
and depending on what I am doing.

I like the editing in PowerGUI and the debugging in PowerShell+ notepad is
for quick and dirty or holding stuff

I rarely use the PowerGUI app itself but I use the PowerGUI "Script Editor"
every day. I really like it and the price is hard to beat.

I'm pleased with (free) PSPad, which has a PowerShell formatter that's
useful.

Hey rvaas,

I personally use Admin Editor by iTripoli (.com). They're adding code completion
at the moment, with intellisense.

Hi Jacob,
I'm pretty interested in ASE, specifically for the forms creation
content, does your version have that and would you recommend it?
It's quite expensive at $300, do you think it's worth it?

Since there is interest, we'll do a review of it in an upcoming podcast.
Probably not the next one but the one after. Watch the show notes. :)

In the meantime, the ASE guys have published 8 tutorial videos at
http://www.adminscripteditor.com/video/index.asp

Here's a flash video screencast of the forms designer:

Hi Hal,

Thats a great idea, I'm sure you guys will handle it with the usual
mixture of
style, pragmatism and humour which makes all your podcasts utterly
unmissable!

Kind regards,
