Once you've created a new PSDrive in a PowerShell session, how do you get it
to exist beyond that session?

Within PowerShell, you can just do "notepad $profile". You may have to
create the file. You can drop your new-psdrive command in the resulting
file just like you call it from PowerShell.

The corollary to Marco's statement is that there is not an option to
make the drives persist like a mapped network drive.

in addition to last 2 answers, to map a normal persistant networkdrive from
PowerShell you can do this :

(new-object -com
wscript.network).MapNetworkDrive("z:","\\localhost\Posh",$true)

or just use the NET use command

net use Y: \\localhost\PoSH /PERSISTENT:Yes

they aso will be added a PsDrives :

get-psdrive

PS C:\Users\mvanorsouw> z:
PS Z:\> dir

Directory: Microsoft.PowerShell.Core\FileSystem::Z:\

only you are limited to the 26 driveletters this way.
